Frederic S. Coffman, Jr.

Skidaway Island - Frederic S. Coffman, Jr. passed away on Friday, October 2, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital from complications following a stroke.

Mr. Coffman was born in Princeton, New Jersey on October 12, 1931 and graduated as Class President from Princeton High School. He continued his education at Princeton University and graduated from Babson College in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in Business.

He began his business career on Wall Street as an investment banker with Laird & Company, eventually becoming Vice President of White Weld. After twenty years he switched careers, becoming Vice President of Planning for Kimberly Clark in Neenah, Wisconsin and Dallas, Texas.

In 1987, he realized a dream, retiring from Kimberly Clark at age 55 and moving to The Landings on Skidaway Island. He was a regular sight around the island as he bicycled twelve miles every day for the last twenty-seven years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-three years, Gail Judge Coffman, son Peter, daughter Maggie, daughter-in-law Mary Virginia, and five grandchildren:, Sophie, Tyler, Emma, Faith and Clare Coffman. His brother, Charles Taylor Coffman, predeceased him.

A memorial mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow after the service at the family home.
